News Release. Threat at Pewaukee High School

On Tuesday, 3-13-18, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office received a call of threats relating to Pewaukee High School received through a social media post.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office immediately made contact with the Village of Pewaukee Police Department as well as Pewaukee School Officials. Together we worked throughout the evening to identify a suspect in this incident.

This suspect is a Pewaukee High School Student and was subsequently taken into custody early this morning by Waukesha Sheriff’s Investigators. As of this release, our investigation has not revealed any evidence of any other actors or participants. We have no reason to believe any threat to the public exists at this time. We believe that this individual worked independently in this threat.

This investigation remains on going as a joint effort between the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office and the Village of Pewaukee Police Department. Both agencies are in direct contact with and are working closely with Pewaukee School Officials.

On Thursday, 3-15-18, school will resume as normal. As a precautionary measure, there will be an enhanced police presence when classes resume to demonstrate the schools commitment to safety and to ease the concerns of the parents, students and staff.

All threats of school violence are taken seriously by law enforcement and school officials. Parents and students are encouraged to have an open discussion regarding the importance of school safety and the significance and severity of threats of violence and the consequences of these actions.

Any questions relating to the investigation should be directed to Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office. Any questions relating to school policy should be directed to the Pewaukee School District at 262-695-5046.

The Pewaukee School District, like all school districts in Waukesha County, believe that safety and security of our school is our number one priority.

We live in a great Community here… do not give this person our power and sense of safety living here …Pull together and lean on one Another ! I ♡ Pewaukee!!
